You are not obligated to forgive someone.
Akito left Rin mentally and physically scarred and no one gets to decide when the abused person gets over their own trauma. Meanwhile some characters could forgive Akito and move on sometimes the scars left run deeper and the person isn’t obliged to “get over it”.
Rin has always been one of the strongest characters in fruits basket and this just goes to show how real and raw her emotions are, healing is a process of time and I think it was an important message to say at the end.
A victim decides when to forgive and if they decide not to, its their own healing process and we respect that.
